how to add font in windows 8

My new PC is running windows 8 (64). I want to add a third-party font, which I used in XP/Vista etc, to Windows 8. I can find the /windows/fonts directory but can't copy my new .ttf file into it? Previous Windows had an 'Install font' option, as best I recall.How do you get a new .ttf file into this directory. Hope you can help? ig for windows 8
